J.C. Espinosa

J.C. Espinosa is a Nica-raguan-born architect—land not naval—who came to yacht design through the path labled “other duties as assigned.” While working for a Chicago architect who was styling the 126-foot Palmer Johnson jet boat, Time, J.C. was given the job of working out its myriad details. After Time launched in 1987 to critical acclaim, he resigned his architectural position to pursue a career in yacht design.

J.C. is known for sleek, contemporary lines as seen on Deltas, Horizons and McKinna’s (see page 40). How, then, did he come to style the vessel above? ...
