Mark your calendars and get those boats ready–the Fairhope Yacht Club in Fairhope, Alabama, is hosting the 50th annual Dauphin Island Race April 25-27, 2008. Organizers look forward to the return of the event that had been curtailed since Hurricane Katrina. Annapolis Sailing Hall of Fame gains support

Plans to create a permanent National Sailing Hall of Fame in Annapolis by 2010 have received encouragement from a feasibility study conducted by the Maryland Stadium Authority. The study estimates the new exhibit would support nearly 100 jobs, attract as many as 150,000 visitors yearly and bring more than $300,000 in annual tax revenue to the local area. The facility is envisioned as a state-of-the-art building housing sailing artifacts, maritime art, movies, memorabilia, and interactive exhibits.
