Chub Cay continues its
journey of revitalization

This winter, the tranquil paradise of Chub Cay counted some unusual visitors. When a plane touched down on the island’s airstrip, the passengers weren’t families ready for a weekend of fun and relaxation at the renovated resort and marina. Instead, a gaggle of models disembarked–set to take over the island for Southern Boating’s annual swimsuit issue photo shoot. Chub Cay, with its colorfully painted beachfront villas, was about to get a little more colorful. Unusual visitors perhaps, but certainly not unwelcome.

Not that Chub Cay hasn’t seen a bathing suit or two in its day. The island is home to miles of breathtaking beaches, which visitors have put to good use since Chub Cay’s inception as a private club in 1960. Today, brightly colored colonial-style homes in the pale blues and greens and bright pinks and oranges synonymous with the Bahamas blend in with tropical surroundings of lush palm trees, white sand beaches and crystalline waters. ...
