Pros and duffers alike are finding their true course in the Bahamas
When you cross the Gulf Stream, don’t forget to take your golf clubs. You might be surprised to learn the Bahamas have several challenging courses. In fact, there are at least three pros from the Bahamas who regularly hit the Senior PGA Tour. Jimmy Delancey is one of them. He spends most days working as a teaching pro at several area courses and recommends you bring the “sticks” because Bahamas golf can be more challenging than your home course. Jimmy says the Bahamas breeze makes the game more interesting, “The same hole will be driver and pitching wedge one day and a driver, three iron and nine iron the next.”
When asked if he has a favorite hole, Jimmy says, “The ones I got the holes in one on.” He snagged two straight off the tees at the Dick Wilson-designed Lucayan Country Club course. Just last November he aced holes 2 and 13 within a week of each other. The Lucayan course puts a premium on accuracy. The greens are well bunkered and there’s a generous amount of pine trees and tropical foliage so foursomes rarely see each other....
