When you ask savvy travelers what they like about the Bahamas, following close behind comments about the weather, the water and the beaches are opinions about the variety of experiences and the differences in lifestyle found within one country. Nowhere is that better captured than on the island of Grand Bahama, a macrocosm in its own right.
Grand Bahama is one of the few spots in the Bahamas where you won’t find any reference that “Columbus slept here.” He missed the place entirely on all four of his visits. That may be attributed to the fact that with an elevation of 60 feet at its highest point, Grand Bahama, the northernmost island, is invisible from any distance greater than four miles. ....
