Regatta Results

Sailors on 87 boats competed in seven classes during the International Rolex Regatta, hosted for the 34th year by the St. Thomas Yacht Club in the U.S.V.I. As the oldest and one of the most popular Caribbean spring racing events, the IRR saw the best of the best compete in a mix of around-the-buoys and island racing.
Defending champ in the Spinnaker Racing Cruising class, Martin Jacobsen of Greenwich, Connecticut, won aboard his Swan 44 Crescendo. Carlo Falcone of Antigua took the Spinnaker Racing 1 class with his Vallicelli 44 Caccia Alla Volpe. In Spinnaker Racing 2, a Melges 24, Devil 3, belonging to Chris Stanton of St. Croix, U.S.V.I, took top honors. J Bird, Doug Baker’s Olson 30 (of Long Beach, California) took the Spinnaker Racing 3 class. ...

Clinic and Regatta Prepares
for Paralympic Hopefuls

Scheduled for August 26-30, 2007, and hosted by Sail Newport, the C. Thomas Clagett Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta is designed to better prepare sailors for the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials, which will determine who will represent the U.S. in the 2008 Paralympic Regatta in China. A two-day clinic open only to U.S. sailors is hosted by Betsy Alison, five-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year and the coach of the U.S. Disabled Sailing Team. ...
