An adventurous family’s cruise
leads to a brush with Bond
Under the Panamanian sun, sweat inches down my spine as I heave another splitting grocery sack from the dinghy into the cockpit of our 41-foot Cheoy Lee. Cruising is a lot of work, I decide. But my thoughts are interrupted when a friend’s voice sounds from the radio, “You are not going to believe this, but movie directors came by this afternoon. They need some boats for background in the James Bond film, and they’re paying good money. We sent them to your boat, but I guess you were out.”
There is dead silence aboard Boisterous as the information sinks in and then, “Aw Mom!” our five boys, ages 3-14, groan in unison. None of them wanted to go shopping in the first place, and now, knowing that we missed a brush with Bond, they grow crabby as Colón cabbies. ...
