Are You Seeing Spots?

Removing mold and mildew is not difficult–it just
takes a bit of knowledge, time and elbow grease.

As all boaters know, keeping mold and mildew at bay is a constant battle and when battling, it helps to know the enemy. The words “mold” and “mildew” are used interchangeably in this article. There are differences, but they are insignificant for the purposes of this discussion.

Mold is one of the few things in nature that can grow and reproduce without light. Small and light, spores move freely, wafting through the air on the slightest breeze; they can hang in the air for hours traveling the length of the U.S. in a week. They are so small it has been estimated that one square foot of moldy drywall can be home to more than 300 million mold spores. ...
