ANGLERS KICK-OFF
MARLIN SEASON IN THE
VIRGIN ISLANDS
Sportfishermen from the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. mainland are already registering to fish in this year’s July Open Billfish Tournament (JOBT), the longest annually held angling contest in the U.S. Virgin Islands boasting a 44-year tradition of fishing fun. “Because we’ve added the requirement for observers, we’re limiting registration to the first twenty-five boats to sign up,” says Jeff Kreiner, tournament director for the host Virgin Islands Game Fishing Club.

Two marina developments are in the initial planning stages for Coral Bay, St. John, a U.S.V.I. community boardering the Virgin Islands National Park. Coral Bay is perhaps best known for its enclave of gray-haired pony tailed live aboard sailors and for its community slogan, “We’re all here because we’re not all there.” ...
