Happy Independence Day to
the U.S. and the Bahamas!
Independence Day in the good ol’ USA means outdoor barbeques, fireworks, beach picnics, and a nice long weekend of family fun. Most of these traditions hold true in the Bahamas as well with a slight island twist. The Bahamas celebrates its 35th Independence Day on July 10–the date on which the country became a sovereign state within the British Commonwealth. Celebrations leading up to Independence Day include regattas, festivals, Junkanoo parades, flag raising ceremonies, fireworks, and special church services. Many of the islands will be celebrating both the Bahamian and U.S. holidays out of courtesy to some of our most frequent visitors.
Around the Islands
Kerzner International announced that the International Yacht Collection (IYC) has found a home in the dockmaster’s office at the Marina at Atlantis, Paradise Island. IYC will help guests charter a yacht or sportfishing boat for the day directly onsite. Visiting yachtsmen can also arrange to enter their yachts into the exclusive charter pool.
