Rumble-Fish
A 58-foot Fast Passagemaker

When yacht designer Ward Setzer and a friend set about looking for a practical boat with two master staterooms that two couples could share for weekend cruising, the only thing that met their accommodations requirement was a husky trawler. Trouble was, the slow speeds of the trawler would mean most of the weekend was spent traveling rather than relaxing at anchor. So Setzer did what any capable designer would do–he drew a boat for himself.

“The trouble is that I have been so busy that I haven’t been able to get it started,” he says. “Now I am thinking that with a few modifications, such as smaller engines and a sixteen-foot beam, it could make a wonderful limited series production boat. Some people who have seen the drawing have asked me if I could draw a larger one, but that misses the point.” ...
