Today’s radars are really black-box sensors completing a multifunction navigation display.
If you haven’t been to the electronics tent at a boat show lately, it may surprise you to learn that the “stand-alone” radar unit we all remember has joined the teletype and eight-track tape player in the Antiquated Electronics Hall of Fame. About the only stand-alone radars around today are found on the bridges of ships, where the display unit itself is the size of a video arcade machine. ...
