Horn Island is one of United States’ most unusual barrier islands, still untouched and natural. It seems more like Galapagos than part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Fourteen miles long, flanked by the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf of Mexico, it provides an isolated habitat for possums, rabbits, raccoons, red foxes, egrets, and a variety of migratory birds and plant life.
