Virginia Beach is that exception to the adage, “You can’t be all things to all people.” 

Visiting yachtsmen can find three distinct versions of Virginia Beach. You might call them rare, medium and well-done. The rare portion of Virginia Beach is the southern third, ostensibly the upper Outer Banks–quaint, undeveloped and natural–perfect for explorers looking for a slice of serenity. Those with moderate tastes may appreciate the northern third, locally called Chick’s Beach, which comprises mostly private cottages and one- and two-story rentals with easy access to the lower Chesapeake Bay. And then there’s the well-done, high-rise resort area, which offers rides and amusements, ocean-side pools, fine restaurants, and glittering nightlife–things sure to keep any kid, young or old, away from the TV and into action. ...
