It seems the good folks at Hinckley’s yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine, are up to their old tricks. Their latest elegant runabout to hit the water oozes with the builder’s signature style and enough high-tech sophistication for comfortable coastal cruising. Yet, Hinckley has something up its sleeve, or rather under the deck, aboard the newest addition to its Talaria line.
The T38 R Convertible’s name says it all. At the push of a button, an hydraulically-operated canvas convertible top raises from beneath the fiberglass coaming separating the helm deck and large aft sun pad. The convertible frame arcs forward and easily secures to the windscreen with a couple of locking pins. Protecting the seating area in rain or shine, the convertible adds an extra element to the boat and allows for more pleasurable cruising. Zip-in side curtains snap to the superstructure to offer protection from blowing rain. The entire cockpit can be enclosed if desired by another curtain that zips into place along the aft edge of the canvas top. Hinckley offers the option of air conditioning this space. ...
