In 1927, Engelbert Frauscher, an Olympic waterskier with a fondness for boating, founded Bootswerft Frauscher along the Danube River in Vienna, Austria, and began building sailboats. (In fact, Frauscher is an ISAF licensed builder of one-design H-boats.) He later moved operations to Lake Traunsee in Gmunden, Austria, in 1945 where the company has existed ever since.
