In 1927, Engelbert Frauscher, an Olympic waterskier with a fondness for boating, founded Bootswerft Frauscher along the Danube River in Vienna, Austria, and began building sailboats. (In fact, Frauscher is an ISAF licensed builder of one-design H-boats.) He later moved operations to Lake Traunsee in Gmunden, Austria, in 1945 where the company has existed ever since. Today, his grandchildren Michael and Andrea Frauscher carry on the family boatbuilding tradition.
