At the Monaco Yacht Show in 2006, one of the most talked about vessels was not a gleaming white megayacht but a small jewel box of a gentleman’s launch. Her navy topsides and white leather upholstery were surrounded by teak and glowing mahogany details. Snugged stern-to against the ancient quay in a row of custom tenders, the comely 37-footer called the Osprey seemed out of place. Still, her lines–a modern take on a vintage style–brought many show patrons to a standstill. And here, her builder, lanky blonde Dutchman Dorus Wajer, risked certain sunburn to offer rides to all. Pleased as he was with the crowd’s response to the aesthetic aspects of his craftsmanship, it was the fast, smooth ride–like a rocket on rails–he was eager to demonstrate. ...
