You’re reading this magazine because you enjoy messing about in boats or you get paid to fix them. If you are in the first category you go boating, preferably with agreeable companions, good food and drink(s) and in perfect weather. Managing the companions, food and drink is easy. The weather is often the problem, especially if we want to go below on a hot day or worse, night. We are spoiled and want air conditioning and, therefore, an onboard source of a substantial amount of power.
A 3,500 BTU air conditioner suitable for a very small cabin can be powered directly from the boat’s 12-volt battery bank.
