Furuno’s NavNet 3D is about as comprehensive as anyone could reasonably ask for and could pave the way to a true “glass bridge”

The first article about Furuno’s NavNet 3D navigation system appeared in Southern Boating in October 2007. It was necessarily based on a laboratory evaluation since production hardware was not yet available. From the earliest inspection, NavNet 3D looked to be a significant advance in marine navigation technology.

Many attributes were immediately apparent at boat show demonstrations, such as its TimeZero continuous panning, stepless zooming and 2D/3D chart view with precisely registered Satellite Photo Fusion overlay. Other advantages, such as the controllers, were less evident; there is no substitute for being able to use the equipment on the water. ...
