Enjoying a boat in the rain tells you how much you really like it. So when Olaf Krohg, the distributor of Nordic Star boats in the United States, asked if I wanted to turn back, I grinned at him, nudged the throttle forward and continued on toward the open sea. The 33 runabout is one of four boats in the Nordic Star lineup, which consists of a sportsman model on the same hull and a hardtop express and open bridge cruiser also available on a common hull. This simplifies the production process to some degree as four distinct models are available, but the factory has to produce only two hull molds.
The Nordic Star 33 runabout is powered by a single 6LPA Yanmar diesel, providing plenty of power. In choppy conditions the boat topped out at just over 30 knots but throttling back to 25 knots proved much more comfortable. ...
