Of all the electronic gadgets available to today’s mariner, none has greater potential to save lives at sea than a vessel’s EPIRB. Here’s how to ensure yours is ready to sound the alarm when needed.
An EPIRB (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon) is expected to operate flawlessly in the event of an emergency. That’s a challenge for any piece of electronics in the marine environment, particularly those continually exposed to extreme weather conditions and minimal maintenance.
